The company is pre-sales revenue and seeks to achieve an IPO on the LSE prior to such planned sales revenue enabling the company to execute its ambitious plan to deliver 1.5m affordable homes throughout the UK post listing. www.lowcarbonconstruction.co.uk/documentation/

The job role of the new CFO will initially involve leading the company entrepreneurially through its pre-IPO fund raising efforts via new equity/loan/bond/ASA. Post LSE listing the role will involve fully controlling the major financial aspects of the company at high level. This may well include preparing/overseeing Listed Bond Issues and other complex high level financing solutions for the company.

The company therefore sees this role very much in two distinct stages; the pre-IPO funding of circa. £3m being the first and thereafter the long-term, high level funding of the business in order to achieve its objectives and targets. Candidates who feel they may be qualified and experienced purely in the pre-IPO funding stage of the business and/or only a short-term engagement are also encouraged to apply.

The attributes that the current board of directors believe that candidates should possess are as follows:

  • Professional Qualifications: Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with a proven track record at a senior executive or director level and possess entrepreneurial flair especially as the business is pre-sales revenue.
  • Sector Experience: Experience of substantive equity fundraising pre-IPO.
  • Corporate Finance Acumen: Specific experience in IPOs, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), raising private/public debt and/or large-scale treasury management.
  • Strategic Leadership: Ability to translate financial data into actionable long-term business models and influence at both shareholder and investor levels.
  • Governance & Risk: Ensuring robust financial controls, governance, audit and risk management as the organisation transitions to a publicly traded entity.

The anticipated responsibilities of the role will be:

  • Leading the financial preparation and due diligence processes for the IPO and/or major capital markets transactions.
  • Overseeing complex financial modelling, cash flow forecasting and valuation analysis.
  • Proactively engaging with underwriters, legal advisors, shareholders and potential investors.
  • Ensuring continuous compliance with listed-company financial requirements.
  • Establishing finance teams and then; managing, mentoring and expanding the finance, treasury and corporate reporting teams.

The successful applicant will be able to work remotely when agreed.

Your responsibilities/role

The role will entail the successful candidate overseeing the entire business operation in the manufacture of houses, ensuring financial performance in line with the business plan.

You will

  • Guide and assist in recruiting company directors

  • Develop and implement strategic plans and company policies, maintaining an open dialogue with stakeholders and driving organisational success

  • Ensure your team of directors follow the business plan in order to achieve the goals detailed in our Strategy and Vision documents

  • Report progress to the Group Director and shareholders

  • Seek investment, implement land deals, establish long-lasting relationships with shareholders, local authorities, government bodies and regulators and supply partners

  • Promote teamwork and good working practises across departments and group companies

  • Comprehensively report to the group board on a monthly basis highlighting successes, key challenges and solutions

  • Continually improve people, processes and systems to meet the business aims

  • Ensure all operational services meet Accreditation and Regulatory requirements and deliver expected Key Performance Indicators

  • Represent the company at public events and attend conferences

Background/education

The ideal candidate is envisaged to be currently/recently working at director level within the social housing sector.

You will have

  • At least five years’ experience in the social housing sector
  • Proven ability in establishing working partnerships with a wide range of external bodies
  • Proven record of success in a senior management role
  • In-depth knowledge of the company’s industry and ability to identify and attract talented employees
  • Extensive knowledge of financial and business management techniques
